**Please note: Only 10 of this week's spelling words will appear on the spelling-language assessment. The assessment is comprised of five sentences which incorporate two spelling words and two daily language (sight) words. Students are also assessed on their use of grammar skills.**
Lesson #24 - Word endings "er" and "est"
Rule:
*The ending er can be added to many adjectives to mean more.
*The ending est can be added to many adjectives to mean most.
*With silent e adjectives, drop the e then add er or est.
*With 1+1+1 adjectives, double the final consonant then add er or est.
*With most adjectives, just add er or est.
*With consonant + y adjectives, change the y to i then add er or est.
For this week's assessment, students will be asked to add er or est endings to adjective base words correctly (ie. using the rules stated above).

Write the er form of sad --> sadder
Students will also be asked to choose the correct form (er or est) to complete the phrase or sentence.

She is ___________ than her older sister. (nice)
Student should use nicer --> comparing one to another to mean more
